Samruk-Kazyna’s portfolio companies present ongoing digitalization projects

September 13, 2017, Astana. Seven portfolio companies of Samruk-Kazyna JSC (the Fund) participated in the digital technologies exhibition organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the framework of the republican meeting with the Head of State on digitalization.

In particular, KazMunaiGas Exploration Production JSC presented Digital oil field project that was commissioned at EmbaMunayGas enterprise. The project has ensured a 3% increase in additional oil production, shortened well recovery process, reduced unit costs for wells repair, and increased energy efficiency by more than 20%. Today the project is being implemented at 14 fields, including Uzen, Karazhanbas, Akshabulak.

Sauat Mynbayev, CEO of NC KazMunaiGas JSC, remarked at the event:
"The digital oil field is a complex automated oil and gas management system that allows to achieve maximum efficiency through the use of new technologies and the integration of disparate systems into a single integrated information system. Technical development of the field was carried out by local specialists. The introduction of digital technologies in the oil and gas sector not only guarantees safety and efficiency of production processes, but also serves as an essential condition for the competitiveness of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry.

As a result of the introduction of the digital mine, Kazatomprom expects to receive an economic benefit of KZT 12 billion by 2025 due to an increase in labor productivity and reduction in production costs. This year the company plans to complete the introduction of a digital mine in one enterprise. The next year the digital mine will be introduced at two more production facilities.

Kazpost JSC demonstrated the main elements of the e-commerce ecosystem: online shopping, payment systems and logistics. The postal operator pays special attention to building the necessary infrastructure for the development of electronic commerce in the country.

Saken Sarsenov, CEO of Kazpost JSC, noted:
“The parcels from China are consolidated and sent to Russia and Europe through the hub at Khorgos ICBC. For example, last year we delivered over 10 million parcels along Khorgos-Vilnius and Khorgos-Ekaterinburg routes, this year we plan to transport more than 30 million parcels. The hub on the railway station Altynkol is at the launch phase. It will allow us to transport parcels from China through Poland to Europe by containers.

In addition, Kazpost has four warehouses for the consolidation and delivery of parcels in the United States, Great Britain, Germany and Russia. These projects ensure transit of over 20 percent of all e-commerce shipments sent from China to Russia and Europe through Kazakhstan.

Samruk-Energy’s Digital power plant concept, developed by General Electric, allows to reduce costs by a quarter, increase labor productivity, reduce downtime by 5% and the emissions of harmful substances by 3%. The mobile application provides current data about the operation of all facilities and delivers proactive analysis showing where the problem can appear and how to prevent it.

KEGOC JSC presented Automating the operating modes management of the Unified Energy System project, which would allow to increase electricity transmission up to 10%, by means of managing big data without additional construction of lines, which corresponds to an increase in the power flow by 200 MW over existing transmission lines from North to South. In addition, the project reduces the volume of regulating capacity purchase from neighboring power systems by half and decreases annual costs by KZT 2 billion. Due to the measured impact of automation in case of accidents in the electric network, the disconnection of consumers will decrease by 25%.

Kazakhtelecom JSC demonstrated an open digital platform for business at the exhibition. The presented prototype consists of five components: public services for business, financial and non-financial measures of state support, B2B platform, business digital services, analytics for small and medium-sized businesses.

Thanks to the introduction of the Single window project, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC has increased documentation process eight times, reduced operating expenses by 50%. Implementation of the Automated Control Center and Projected traffic schedule will increase the capacity of the highway and perform maintenance of assets according to their current status, as well as reduce operating costs.
